Ray Tompkins House at Yale University is located at 20 Tower Parkway in New Haven, adjacent to the iconic Payne Whitney Gymnasium. Designed by renowned architect John Russell Pope, the building was completed in the early 1930s and was funded through a bequest from Sarah Wey Tompkins in memory of her husband, Ray Tompkins (Yale Class of 1884), a celebrated Yale football captain and alumnus.
Today, Ray Tompkins House serves as the administrative headquarters for Yale Athletics, housing offices for athletic department leadership, varsity sports operations, recreation programs, facilities management, communications, finance, ticketing, and coaching staff. The approximately 51,100-square-foot, three-story facility also includes meeting spaces, athletic archives, and support amenities for the department.
The building is currently undergoing a major renovation to modernize its infrastructure while preserving its architectural character. Yale is transforming it into a more efficient, sustainable administrative facility for Athletics, with occupancy anticipated following completion of the renovation project.
Get an exclusive look at the work, connect with fellow AEC professionals, and continue the conversation over appetizers and cocktails at Mory's after the tour.
